You make the choice, but alot of us use the vario screen, and its good at what it does, better than any other screen out there, my opinion only you understand.
Its not the falling off that hurts it's the stopping

I think it depends on your height? I'm 5'6", had a double bubb' (fitted by previous owner) on my last xx and found it perfectly adequate....now on an '07 and am finding the standard screen superb.

However I've noticed taller riders go for a higher screen, MRA seems to be quite a trend, particularly for comfort when touring, or indeed other flip ups.

Perhaps you may find the information in the following link useful:

Let's see what others think?

I'm on a '99 xx and am 5'9" myself.

Got my bike with with a DB screen and hated it from the start - way too much wind noise and turbulence. :cry)

I then tried the original screen that came with it and, although the wind noise and turbulence went, my chest and shoulders were very exposed and buffeted. :cry)

Then bought another original screen, but the type that is fitted to the 2001 xx onwards which has a slight DB and is closer to the rider, and like Ladybird, have found this is the one for me :D :D (noting mine is the same as hers now!). Also of note is that I took off my bar risers and am back on originals meaning all Jap engineers must be 5'9", 12 stone and very good looking just like me!!!!!

If you have an xx there's no way you can be that stupid and certainly not slow!!!! :wink)

I think if you look at Agay's bike on this link, this is an MRA Vario touring screen.

I may very well be wrong, however, and then that does make me stupid and fast!!!!

NOTE: Peculiar additional lighting is not a mandatory fit!!!!! :P
