To add further temptation a trip us this little 'ill is probably on the cards as we pass within spitting distance. It's not cheap but there is nowhere in Europe you can get higher as a tourist and still have your feet on the ground.

Couple more hotels booked so we can visit the Porsche and Mercedes Museums in Stuttgart and the BMW Museum in Munich the following day. Vignettes have arrived for Switzerland and Austria just in case we need to jump on a motorway. Thanks to clubcard points we have the chunnel booked for £40 return  Not long now :ride) :ride)

I may be up for this!

Been to Switzerland many times, recommend andermat as a good place to stay as it sits on a plane surrounded by four great alpine passes, grimsel and furka are brilliant.

Grant

I second that Grant. In all the alpine riding I've done, those 4 passes centred on Andermatt have to be the best.

Centrally located for Groos Glockner and others, this bikers hotel well known on UKGSer might be of interest.http://www.hochalmspitze.com/

Not the cheapest or best value, but there is a good atmosphere with other bikers and it's a handy place for clothes washing half way thru a trip.
