Staithes run

OK here goes

Does anyone fancy a run to Staithes in North Yorkshire?
Quaint fishing village and a bit different to the usual destinations
I Remember it was the first time I had chips with curry sauce in my youth over 40 years ago, underage drinking in the pub and kissing Maureen Story :wink) :wink)
so its all happy nostalgia for me
Thought the weekend of August 8/9 th or the following weekend 15/16th

I will go if there are any takers, the more the merrier
Totally open to feedback and suggestions, let the planning begin

Staithes? That's in the Whitby whereabouts; some decent pubs out there, too. :thumbsup)

Best post information on route and rest stops if you can, Grant. Plus details regarding parking availability for caravans, trailers and zimmers, etc...

Also, it would be advantageous if you could guarantee that it won't rain and that the day will provide an average temperature of 65 fahrenheit (minimum)... :-?

Whereja wanna meet up? :ride)

Cant guarantee the weather, but August is a good bet
Prob best approach is to plan for the first weekend, that way if one of the seven plagues of Egypt happens just go the following weekend

I will try to arrange any food preferences in advance with a local eatery

Rib eye steaks
Brown Crab
Spider Crab
Scampi
Craster kippers
BBQ ?

There are loads of suggested great biking routes posted for Garmin

Happy to arrange any moral or immoral entertainment, ?? strippers for AJ?

Basically open to input from those who are actually willing to go

There is always the classic "Helmsley TT" route

here is a link to an on bike video of it

and another

As you appear to be the predominent poster on your thread, I suspect you may well end up on your own in Staithes :-?

One of the biggest issues with organising rides out is the simple fact that although people have good intentions, quite often things just don't happen for them. In my case, I have no idea what I'll be doing later today, never mind a couple of weeks ahead :P Not because I'm senile like AJ BJ man, but more because my circumstances change rapidly, and I could end up flying off to some far flung country on the other side of the bloody earth :oops)

So, although I would like to say YES, I'll be there, I can't be certain, and will therefore not commit to anything at this time. If I find that I do have the time on my hands, then I'll seriously consider heading over :thumbsup) If that means that I'll be the only one there, then at least I'll have enjoyed a ride out :rockon) :ride)

If it does go ahead, good luck and ride safe 8)

Prefer 2 nights, but I am flexible
If we do 2 anyone can come for the day or either of the nights

There are no rules

...ya could use it as a rehearsal for another time. :thumbsup)

Thanks Eric

as you are Preston ish We could meet up in a services on the M62 on the way, I live in Sowerby Bridge near Halifax
Murt is looking at the possibility of coming and he lives in Preston so you could both ride over to west Yorkshire together

Good thing is we have plenty of time to sort things out

Cheers, Grant – I’m really looking forward to this.

Hopefully, a few more will tag along and we can start thinking about rendezvous locations then.
For starters, though, you’re only an hour or so away from Bolton so it makes sense to meet near Sowerby, then flirt over to Staithe any way you like. :ride)

'Slookin' good, mate... :thumbsup)

'Slookin' goo-oo-oo-ood!! :rockon)
